It was never easy.

At school, they had to hide what they have... he has to pretend... she has to pretend...

After graduation, the situation was the same... he has to pretend... she has to pretend...

At work, it wasn't different... he has to pretend... she has to pretend...

He's tired of it all.

"I don't care anymore, Granger. I want people to know you are mine," he said in a voice that she knew was serious. She nodded quietly. She got her bag, slung it to her shoulders, and accepted the hand he offered.

Together they got out of Hermione's office at the ministry. Gazes and whispers follow them at every corner. Both didn't care. It's time everyone knew.

When they got out of the ministry, Draco pulled her closer.

"Are you ready?"

Hermione nodded.

Draco apparated them both together to the manor, where his mother is currently hosting a charity ball for survivors of the war. The Malfoys survived; they switched sides before it was too late.

They arrived at the manor. Dinky, Draco's house elf, opened the door for them. The music stopped when guests noticed their arrival. Hermione shifted closer to Draco as he led her to his parents, who were both waiting at the other side of the ballroom.

There were whispers. Some sounded tender; some sounded harsh.

"Just pretend you don't hear them Granger," he whispered to her ear.

"I'll try, Draco," Hermione answered, her gaze solely focused to the two people whose reactions will matter the most.

"Mother, Father," Draco addressed his parents while pulling Hermione closer towards him. "This is Hermione Granger, my girlfriend."

Silence.

Then a smile appeared on Narcissa's face.

"Welcome to our home, Ms. Granger," she said while giving Hermione a hug, much to the latter's surprise and relief. Draco smiled, but it disappeared when he caught sight of his father's unreadable expression.

Another silence.

"I believe I'll be seeing more of you from now on, Ms. Granger." Was all he said.
